FSDH Merchant Bank has successfully hosted the fourth edition of its Women in Business Initiative (WIBI) Summit, further solidifying its commitment to empowering women to thrive in business and career. This year’s summit, themed “She Transcends: Spurring Women to Build Enduring Businesses and Careers,” was a hybrid event that brought together a dynamic mix of entrepreneurs, professionals, and industry leaders on Thursday 28th November 2024. The summit welcomed physical attendees at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, and online participants, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for women across different locations.

The keynote address, delivered by renowned entrepreneur and leadership expert Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, set the tone for the event. She underscored the invaluable role women play in nation-building, highlighting their natural ability to nurture and build communities. “Any nation that does not invest in nurturing the gifts and talents of its women population is losing so much and will never reach its full potential,” she emphasized.

Mrs. Awosika also shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey, encouraging women to embrace self-awareness, define their purpose, and make decisions tailored to their unique contexts. “Don’t follow general opinion to make your decisions,” she advised. “Look at your own goals, determine your end game, and take steps that align with your vision.”

The panel session was equally engaging, featuring seasoned professionals and experts who provided valuable insights into various aspects of business and personal growth. Dr. Maymunah Kadiri, a psychotherapist and convener of The Mental Health Conference, emphasized the importance of mental well-being as a foundation for success, urging women to prioritize balance in their personal and professional lives. Mr. Toyin Owolabi, MD/CEO of FSDH Asset Management, shared practical strategies on wealth management, equipping attendees with tools to achieve financial growth and stability. Adebola Oruma, Head of the Gender Business Desk at the Bank of Industry, shed light on funding opportunities and support available to women entrepreneurs, encouraging them to take advantage of resources tailored to their needs.

The discussions explored critical areas such as managing business growth effectively, achieving regulatory compliance, and sustaining mental and financial balance. Attendees walked away with actionable insights and strategies to help them build enduring businesses while achieving personal fulfillment.

The summit, attended by high-profile women, business owners, and professionals, demonstrated FSDH Merchant Bank’s ongoing commitment to empowering women through platforms like WIBI. It fostered networking, learning, and collaboration, inspiring women to transcend limitations and build lasting legacies.
